The purpose of this test is to investigate the ability of a mattress to resist rapid heat release when subjected to a flaming ignition source. This test method does not provide information on the performance of a mattress in other fire conditions or the contribution of the mattress to a developing fire condition. The density of the smoke produced and the toxicity of the products of combustion are not measured. The determination of weight loss is optional. Additional identification tests and examinations may be performed as determined necessary to provide information relative to the physical and chemical properties of a mattress and its components
